For what its worth, the Porter Cable 333 that I am currently using is faster on wooden surfaces than the old B&D 1/4 sheet sander I had been using. Can't comment on the parper question.

: On the way home last night, I stopped at Home Depot and picked up a ROS. I
: got the Porter Cable 333. Also bought a package of 60 grit paper and the
: label specified "fiberglass" along with wood and metal. They
: didn't have a brand I was familiar with, like Norton, and I think this
: brand was something like "Ali-gator"???
: Anyway, I set up a little test to see if my old rectangular sander or the new
: ROS would remove glass from my deck better. The old rectangular one won,
: and I've estimated that it will take about 8 hours to remove all the glass
: (at this point, I'm 2/3 done after about 5.5 hours. Jay had mentioned that
: it would take about 2 hours with a new ROS. But, I think it may have a lot
: to do with the paper I was using. So, for those who have grinded off lots
: of glass in the past, which paper should I be using in my new ROS?
: Too many people have spoken too highly of the newer ROSs for me to think that
: the problem is anything but the paper I'm using with it.
