I have had some results great results removing similar adhesive with Coleman stove fuel. The kind you buy at a sporting goods store in gallon cans and is used in a pump up type camping stove. (For those of you too young to remember the pre-compact camping trips.)

My son pulled a previous owner installed window tinting oss the windows of his car. Nothing would touch the adhesive. On a whim I tried the Coleman and it rubbed the gunk off fairly easily.

I'd probably wipe the whole thing down with laquor thinner after I got the glue off.

No guarantees but one good experience.
