havent tried this on wood.. however, naptha is real good at cleaning that sort of thing.... and before you go pay an arm and a leg for a big can at the DIY store... naptha is lighter fluid... the type that goes in zippo type lighters.. your local convinence store probably has it in a smallish bottle that will probably do the job for a couple bucks
