Back in the '60s my dad and I built a sea-flea in the basement. It was my first boat building experience and my only fibre glassing experience before my current S&G project.

No idea where he got the plans from, I will have to check with him this weekend. I was bullet-nosed probably 8 feet long by 4 feet wide. The cockpit really was just a "pit" about 6" deep and 4' by 3'. As per the 60s we painted it tangerine orange and yellow and my sister put a big flower decal on the bow.

It was launched in Rice Lake in Southern Ontario with a 5hp Evinrude. It was slightly underpowered and I had to lean out over the bow to get it to trim properly. Top speed might have been 15 mph. Eventually we installed a "dead mans" throttle which had a ratchet type mechanism that would lock the throttle at a specific speed.

Now the neighbours had a bigger and faster version built from a racing design. I think that they had a 20hp engine and may have approached 40 mph when the lake was calm enough.
