I used 6oz glass for all surfaces. I did a second patch on the "football" portion of the hull and one layer of 2" 9oz tape down the keel. My Cirrus is probably heavy in that I also used 5mm luan and 6oz glass on the deck inside and out. It weighs about 50 lbs. My justification for building this sturdy is that I'm a big guy (6' 235 lb), live in a rough & rocky area (Maine), and have a history of destroying my toys.
