"Snipe" on my beads (Count me in TOO)

Same problem, but I don't think it was from poor routing techniques based on the way I was doing them. I think the boards are thinner on one end. (anywhere form 2 - 6 inches). The taper was there BEFORE I routed the strips. Not sure why, but this could be form the lumberyard who planes these to finish grades.

As far as a router setup, I have a pretty good setup using a home-made router table using 2 matching 1/2 HP Craftsman routers (borrowed friends). The table is split & can easily be adjusted to align both bits for any given width of strip.. Also use feather boards & all you do is feed strip in one end then pull it out from the other end while controlling how straight it comes out through whole rig. The basic setup came from Rob Macks (Laughing Loon), but I tweaked it a bit.

I'll post pics & descriptionjs if anyone is interested. Rig works real well & cost just a few bucks tomake (not counting routers).

: Anyone got some advice on the finer points of setting up a router table for
: milling strips?

: I have been milling some more strips to finish off my Razor Billed Auk deck
: and ran into an issue I couldn’t explain. As I send the strips through my
: router table cutting beads, the last one inch of the strip seems to get a
: extra 1/8” taken off. I have not had this problem before and am using
: feather boards on both sides and above the bit.

: Obviously this isn’t a big problem to cut off the last 1” but I was curious
: if anyone else has had this problem. I am assuming that it has something
: to do with getting the fence parallel to a tangent of the bit but I kept
: getting “snipe” on that last 1” no matter how I fiddled with the fence.

: Regards,

: Jack
