I don't think you can go wrong with any of the companies mentioned as well as Redfish Kayaks as someone else mentioned. I built the One Ocean Cape Ann and am very pleased with it. I got great plans, a good manual, the website and personal followup whenever I needed it for clarification.

That said, I think that you'll get the same thing from all the above mentioned designers. It'll really be more of a matter of deciding what your intended purpose will be and then finding which of the designers has a boat that most closely matches that intent. In my case, I'm a pretty big guy,(6'4", 240 lbs with size 14 feet) and a neophyte to Sea Kayaking. I needed a boat that I would fit into and that I could grow with as my ability increased. After doing a ton of research I finally decided on the Cape Ann because it seemed to fit my requirements. I think someone mentioned this as well, but I would recommend going to one of the upcoming shows and paddle some of the candidate boats. Most builders seem to be willing to let you take a test paddle of course,we'll talk your ear about our particular choice.
