Hey folks.
Want to show you a "first-time-stripper". My "mail-pal" sent me some pics and I asked for permission to put some of them here. He told me that he didn't think the result was good enough (sigh), but I told him to leave the evaluation to the people at this board.
So-, here are the facts: It is a Redfish Return built by Knut Nergaard in Hønefoss, Norway. The wood is mahogany and aspen. The bungee hooks are steam bent ash. The holes in stem and stern are first drilled with a 45mm, then a solid piece of mahogany is inserted and epoxied. At last a 30mm hole is drilled through that piece again before the final sanding.
It has two flush hatches with internal bungees, and a flush day hatch on right side behind the cockpit with a lock handle operated from the cockpit. He used standard glass lay-up with 4 oz. glass. Total weight is 59 pound and he used about 250 hours to build it.
This first try made him hooked at kayak building. He has already found some trees he wants to cut down and prepare for his next stripper. And I think that stripper will be nice too..
Best regards from Tom
