: Has anyone out there paddled a Glen-L 17' touring kayak? I am thinking of
: building one & would appreciate any feedback from builder/paddlers of
: this craft.
: I am 6' tall, weigh 80kg (178 pounds) and have been paddling for about one
: year, but not much good in rough seas and can't roll as yet.
: Intended use is for sea touring (2 to 3 days) and the occasional river
: marathon event (Murray Marathon 400km over five days).
: I have paddled a plastic "Penguine" by Q-Kayaks of New Zealand
: & have found that to be well suited to my ability & style.
I built one of their kits once. An 8' dingy. Design was good, and easy to build.
One recommendation: Don't use Glen-L's epoxy. It's very fast curing. I had what they called their slow epoxy and in 100* tempuratures I was getting 7 to 10 minutes of working time. Had a devil of a time doing the seam fillets and even pre-coating the hull.
