Hmm...I haven't noticed any tendency for the Cirrus to weather-cock. I'm also curious about the conditions it did that in.

Also, with a stem band, you can trim back the actual bow and stern edges of the plywood hull and replace with stem/stern bands. In other words, replace and not extend the edges. With the inside fillet done, you could plane the stern and bow back to a 1/2" width, glue on your stem bands and sand to a nice rounded edge, just like on a stripper.
