As I posted to another on this BBS...I've lost my fear. I told him to just go for it! Now I had to prove it.

The way it will work out with the shape of the Guillemot's deck, it will work exactly that way. With a 1" horizontal displacement from the original deck, there will be a 1" vertical displacement at front and back. Due to the way the Guillemot's deck slopes near vertical at the sides, the recess will be flat at the sides. The original recess wasn't wide enough, so more filler strips will be used here...they just won't be sloped.

Since I put its coaming on a nearly flat deck and didn't daylight the recess to the sides, the Cormorant's coaming was entirely within a consistent 45º beveled recess. The Guillemot's recess will go from 45º at front to 0º at sides to 45º again at the back.
