No router - I score the outline with an exacto knife, trying very hard to keep the lines in the right place, then plow out the rest with a sharpened ( and re-sharpened, often) screwdriver - works better than a chisel, because of the rockered sole. The whole process is a little scary, because the exposed corners of the cedar are very fragile - one wrong touch and pieces break off with the grain.
