: I am currently building two Greenland style skin on frame kayaks. I am more
: or less following Cunningham’s method. I have all the deck beams fitted
: and he says to peg them in place through the top of the gunnels. I do not
: want to do this and am curious if just lashing them is going to be strong
: enough to hold every thing in place. Any help you could give would be much
: appreciated.
: Thank again

I'm doing that on my "Mark Starr" style kids boat. He uses lashings exclusively. Mark teaches kayak building at Mystic Sea Port Museum and also has a book, " Building A Greenland Kayak ". This is the method he describes in his book.. It's very doable!
They are both very good solid methods of attachment. I'm curious... why do you favor one over he other? I ask because I'm also building two boats and then a third and I'm using Cunningham's/Morris' style on one and Starr's method on the other. My intention is to find which I like better and what mix and match works easiest for the beginner.
