: Shawn, where in the heck are you storing 4 partially built boats?!?!?!?
: Surely not outside until they have glass on them. If you have that much
: room in your shop, then I'm EXTREMELY jealous.

Well, it's not cavernous, but it's large-ish. (24' x 24')

One of the prerequisites in buying our home when we moved was that it had a large garage with a high ceiling. I have about 9'-6" from floor to ceiling, and the garage doors are 8'w x 7'h. This gives me about 2'-2" between the top of the door when it's up and the ceiling. I can store 2 boats on either side of each garage door opener, for a total of 8 boats hanging.

In the winter time, there's only room for one boat between the stalls, and it's a tight fit (about 4' wide). I can leave the boat on the strongback and juust squeeze into my truck. When working on the boats, the vehicles are outside, and I pull them in for the night so the windshields don't ice over.

In the summer time, it's 100% boat shop, and the vehicles stay in the driveway. Right now, I'm hanging the Cormorant, the Squeedunk Grebe, an NDK Romany I'm repairing, my Morris SOF frame, my aluminum Anas Acuta frame, and 2 whitewater boats. On the floor, the Guillemot is taking up most of my stall. The stripper canoe is in the center "aisle" on the strongback, and my Avocet is in my wife's side getting a new seat. It's easy (and fun!) to get distracted by various projects right now. And I have to clean all of it but the canoe up for a garage sale this weekend.

My old garage was 17'w x 22'l x 9'h, but it had a support beam right across the middle which precluded lengthwise hanging of boats above the garage door. :(

: Sheeeze. Some people just really know how to hurt a guys feelings :-)

Space is important, but how well the structure (and your creativity) lets you use the space is equally important.
