I applied WR-LPU to both of my Tern 14’s at differing times. One in spring and the other mid-summer. You guessed it, the latter was a no-no. The temps during my summer application were in the mid-70’s to low 80’s with minimal humidity. I had a number of dry looking areas wherever I started and stopped the application. I thinned to approximately 17%, rolled it on using 1/8” foam rollers, and tipped with a foam brush.
My spring attempt was done when the shop was right around 60 degrees and the humidity relatively high. I thinned to a little over 10% and rolled once again. The results were far superior to my summer application. Much richer finish this time with no dry areas. Except for the one area right in front of the cockpit where a moth conveniently decided to land. I foolishly tried to re-roll that spot and made things worse. Don’t try to do spot application after you have done your initial pass. If there is a problem, let it dry, sand, and then re-coat.
Also, remember that the more you thin the greater the potential for drips and runs. This stuff has a habit of waiting until you leave before deciding to run. The maximum it is to be thinned is 25%.
I was approaching the hundred-hour mark on my boat this last time around so when I found a drip right after applying I simply viewed it as additional UV protection. Two months earlier it would have been a hideous blight.
Good luck
