I'll second that. There was a tragic series of postings last year about a guy who put his S&G on the roof rack and then let his buddy (who didn't put a 100 hours into it) tie it down in front. The rope came loose, went under the tire, and practically snapped the boat in half. It was a really sad sight.

Always tie your own lines. You built it and no one cares more about it than you do. Plus, if you screw up, you only have yourself to blame. It's a lot harder to stay mad at yourself ;-)
