: I am to the point in my construction of a Pygmy Osprey Std. of painting on
: the UV coat. I really like the S3 WR LPU but have read bad things about
: the application without a sprayer. I would like to know how anyone has
: applied the LPU successfully with brush or roller, and what type of brush
: or roller. I live in the Seattle area where it is currently around 65-70
: most days. Thanks for any help.

I just finished a Mill Creek 16 and used System's 3 WR LPU clear gloss. I applied it using a small foam roller and tipped it off immediatly using a small foam brush. It turned out very nice, but you have to be on the ball - at least in my climate the finish drys very quickly (it was totally try in around 20 minute) to tipping it off immediately was very immportant. I thined it a little with water - the finish was a bit too thick to roll on without thinning. Otherwise it was very easy and quick - I got three coats + one crosslinked coat on in 3 hour!

I think the finish looks great, but it is possible that I am not that picky. I suggest you try a scrap piece of plywood and put 3 or so coats on it with a roller to see how it goes. Definitly experiment with the tipping - I was surprised by how quickly the stuff dries and how rapidly it needs to be tipped.

Good luck,
-Jay
