: I Have A bunch of lumber (cypress) from an old barn . More than a hundred
: years old. The planks are about 2 feet wide or so and 5-6 inches thick
: some are over 25 feet long. I've cut A few into strips and it looks good
: and is clear and flexible. Now my question is would this be a good choice
: to build a kayak out of? I cant cut the big boards to easy the boards are
: just to big. Even cutting down the smaller ones into strips really makes
: my new Ryobi 10" table saw work HARD. But it is possible. I plan on

Like all woods there are many types of cypress but the kind I bought from New Orleans for some hand rails was a dream to work. We used some of the scrap on the bottom of our stripper, abit heavy so I would go with 3/16" strips.
