Thanks for the reply Myrl
: Since you have the combing built, and are impatient, it seems to me the
: fastest way to get it on the kayak you could cut it into sections now,
: say, 1 ft long. then get them to conform that way? you could fill cracks
: and paint as stated earlier? It would be pretty easy to do a practice dry
: fit, if you have several clamps on hand. If it turns out small due to the
: cuts, you may have to build one cheater piece to fill in a gap, or
: something like that.
Myrl, that's a pretty good idea and could work. I figure the coaming I have is toast anyway so I could try something like that and if it didn't work I could start anew. It didn't take all that long to do the coaming pieces anyway.
: I guess the problem is that it could destroy your work done so far, if so you
: would have to restart it.
: As usual, this is just a thought, I've never tried it.
: May I ask, where you got the plans for this, With Shawn's endorcement, I'd
: really like to take a look at it. Perhaps you could describe it (length,
: beam, stated characteistics, capacity, etc)
I assume you are speaking of the kayak design? It is the stitch and glue kayak found in the fall 1994 issue of Sea Kayaker magazine written by Chris Cunningham. The link below will show you all of the article except the offsets and bill of materials. There were no design specifications given.
: good luck with your project,
: Myrl
