OOPS! The waxed paper would be used in the case where there is a curve in the top of the recess. On my Guillemot, I did the coaming in two sections to cope with the curve in the top of the deck. I glued the halves to the riser with a joint in the center. The method worked well with a laminated rim with tight curves. You should have no problem going in one-ring ply layers, gluing as you go then clamping the whole stack.
