The most common tree in Sweden is Piceas Albae or Nordic Spruce. It has been used for boats since at least the Viking ships.
It is lightweight, very longfibred and strong. The epoxi-glass-spruce laminate has been tested by The Royal Technical University and compared with glassfiberreinforced polyester. All parameters turned out 2-7 times better for the epoxi-laminate. The bending resistance lenghtwise was 70 times better.
The strips we use are 19x4,5mm b´n´c. The spruce dont give any allergenic dust and smell very nice from terpentine.
