Richard -
Do you really need to bend them as one piece? If not, consider using the table saw, and making a lot of strips out of them. Use Oriented strand board for the form to bend to, and split PCV tube ring "clamps". Layup and glue individual thin strips until you get the thickness you want. Eliminates a the entire "steam" process.
I used cedar and cut into very thin strips that were "dry bent" over a form. SaranWrap protects the glue-up from sticking to the mould and I simply used regular old yellow carpenter's glue, since the entire assembly was glass covered with epoxy - so all glue seams are protected from water. The lay-up was used for the cross beams of my Formula 48 radio controlled multihull. The beams are just under 43 inches in length because maximum beam for the class is 48 inches, and are about 1 1/2 inches wide by 3/8 inch thick. The same technique can be used to build your stems, and you won't have to wait for the pieces to dry out to glue up. I allowed about 3/8 inch spring back, and it really wound up less than 1/4 inch. The photo attached shows the basic cross beams prior to adding mounting points on the hull and floats.
Good luck
