After laying up the carbon & glass you cover the whole thing with contact paper. This helps to give a smoother surface and keeps the epoxy from leaking out before it kicks. I had a minor problem as I forgot to put butchers wax on the top layer of contact paper and believe me you want wax because it was a bitch to get off without it.

Behind the L shaped mold I am laying up the actual rudder. With my jugs of epoxy jugs pressing the layers together.
