It's a method to make a deck fitting by molding glass cloth and fillers around a flexible tube. After the epoxy cures, the tube/mold is removed, leaving a nice tunnel.

The trouble is, if there is a long length involved, or bends in the tubing, the mold/tube can be difficult to withdraw.

On my boat, I was considering a drain tube from the coaming recess to the side or bottom. I would build the tube onto the rear bulkhead. I was thinking that I might be able to withdraw the mold if I used a rod of slippery plastic, and kept it straight.

I will definitely do a trial on some scrap wood before I drill any holes in my boat.
