One possibility is to use the thru-hole for the carrying loops/toggles for dual use. The line would come up one side of the boat, cross over the opposite sheer, thru the hole, over the deck and back down the other side. The line crosses over itself at just about the point you'd put a deck fitting. First saw that method on the CLC site, but I can't find it right now. They've changed their site in the last week or so.
