You should be able to make repairs yourself.Making a small repair would not be like putting the finish on the whole kayak, you could use a small brush. It's like those small chip repair paints that you dab into scratches on your car. You can mix a small amount of the clear and drop it into the scratch, wait for it to dry, wet sand and buff it out including a small area around the scratch.You shouldn't be able to see the repair. Sounds more involved than it really is. This type of finish is subject to damage just like marine varnish but the real appeal is it's longevity and it's repairability not to mention it's clarity, gloss and UV protection are very high.
