: I am considering using Raka epoxy on my latest stripper and wanted to find
: out others' thoughts on the different hardeners Raka sells.
Hi Jim,
I think Raka's 350 non-blush hardener is an exceptional hardener. In cooler temps it does take awhile to set. So, you may want to get a small quantity of 610 fast hardener. This way if you are using the epoxy for reasons other than wet-out, you'll be able to alter the speed of the hardener.
Off-topic:
I'm in the process of testing US Composite (3:1med&2:1slow) on my Cuervo Fat Boy fore deck and comparing it to Raka with 350 on the aft deck. I called US Comp last week and told them that I was not satisfied with the results of their medium hardener and they sent out a half gal of their 2:1 slow for FREE. Great customer service, nice people, hopefully the slow will be much better. Both went on last night (in the kitchen 65deg) and this morning the Raka was hard, but could still leave a finger print, while the US Comp w/ slow was still quite sticky. Re-coated this morning and will be adding glass and more coats throughout the weekend. I'll post some results next week.
