I have built furniture for several years and the figures used to set the chairs was 3* back for the seat and 7* back for the back rest.

I asked a friend that has been building canoes for several years and he said he didn't know, because he just set them to the most comfortable angle he had found over the years. So, I asked if I could check it out and he helped me with a guage he had burried there in the saw dust. It checked out at 3* for the seat and 7 1/2* for the seat back/backband.

On that information I would give it a try.
