Ok, I was a bit unclear about the comfort thing.
There is nothing wrong with the actual comfort of the seat as specified in the CLC construction instructions for sitting in. What is awkward is how high the coaming is and how wide the boat is. It makes getting the paddle to the water feel a little clumsy.

At 24"wide the boat is pretty stable. When I sit up higher I find that the boat reponds a little better to my leaning. and the paddling action is much more comfortable.

Perhaps I have a technique problem.

Do you have your seat fixed directly to the floor of your cockpit?

does it need to move fore and aft for differnt paddlers or are the footpegs enough adjustment?

What I'm getting at in a round about way is, should I just glue the seat to the floor?
