In Response To: Paddle: Mahogany for Greenland Paddle??? (David Hill)

I've used this Mahogany for building my hatch & cockpit laminations on a Panache. The wood is beautiful when wet-out with epoxyy. I've also used it in a paddle, but only as striping in a pattern on the blades. I too think it might be too heavy for paddle (that is unless you like the workout you get from using it).

: There is a source in Portland with a decent supply of "pattern
: grade" Honduras Mahogany. I've used this in my guitars and the ribbon
: striped figure is awesome.

: Has anybody used mahogany for Greenland paddles? How does it hold up?

: I'd imagine it's more durable than WRC but maybe a bit heavier.

: Thanks, Dave
