I think I will combine yours and Rehds advice. I will try to angle the seat back 3 degrees and fix it in the spot where I have found suits me.

I would like to post a picture of the boat, but I have nowhere to host the images so that is a bit awkward.

It is a nice boat to paddle and it seems pretty fast to me. It should be good for filling with camping gear when the weather gets a bit warmer. However I look forward to getting my Merganser plans and building a boat that is a little more narrow though. I will be able to take a friend paddling then.
