I use two peices of velcro 2"x4" to hold my minicell seat in place. This way I can remove the seat and let the cockpit dry out good so I don't get the black ick in my epoxy.

The position of the seat should be positioned per the specifications of the boat manufacturer. Moving this position forward or aft will affect the trim of the boat and the designed handling. Also moving this around will affect the fit of your spray skirt. The foot pegs can be moved to adjust the fit of the boat to different paddlers.
