Jim Kozel is right on his first post - you ideally would like to sit with the lowest (back) part of the seat right on the floor or as close as possible. An upwad slant on the seat will cradle your thighs and gibve you more comfor and no sleepy legs. You have to experiment on how much slant since we're all built different.

Before you jump at making another kayaj the same, try some commercially mde ones (some lower volume) to see if you like that more. You can cut down the volume of your next one if that's the case. The fact that raisling the seat makes you feel better in the kayak leads me to believe that you're swimming in it.
