Well I sure stretched 175 hours out. Partly because of the learning curve but mostly due to family obligations and work. The boat is 15 foot by 23 inch, Morris style. A little customizing for my sons size 10 1/2 shoe size. The cockpit is the same extended design I used on my Guillemot. I also followed along with Nicks custom bracing idea as the cockpit is very large for a skin boat. The coaming is steam bent ash. The deck lines are 1/4 inch leather from McMaster Carr. The sliders are Walnut. The skin is 12 oz. Nylon from Dyson, and the sealant is Petri brand Exterior grade water-based Poly. It went on very easy and the clean up makes it well worth the extra cost. At about $45 per gallon. At the most I have about $175.00 in material. I have already started another one for my youngest son.
The handling is a tiny bit tender as we are used to the rock stability of my 19 foot Guillemot but tracks famously and turns on a dime. The water was a little cold and we were not ready to roll it but it seems like it will without fuss.
Keep building, Elliott
