If I need sticks to spread a hull, that has contracted due to drying out of the
interior wood, I lay and smooth out my glass in the hull, then place the sticks
in position.

This spreading of the hull usually lifts some of the glass off the hull bottom in spots
so I remove individual sticks, smooth the glass back into place and replace the sticks.

Then as I wet-out the hull interior, I remove individual sticks and then replace them as
I work, to keep the glass in place and from lifting off the hull in spots.

I've had the best luck in avoiding glass lifting off the hull with this technique.
