How many 3/8" magnets per hatch, Larry?
Would a jump to 1/2" be a good idea?
I thought John Schroeder's magnet hatches were plenty tight. I think he had 8 - 3/8 in his day hatch, and 10 or 12 pairs in his bigger hatches.

: Rob Macks is the magnet guru. Search the forum for "magnets" and
: Rob Macks. Personally my experience has been that internal bungies are the
: way to go. On my front hatch, I used 3/8 magnets and thought the pull was
: not sufficient. So I added the bungies later. Now the magnets keep the
: hatch from blowing away when the bungies are loose, but still easy to take
: off. The internal bungie method is way faster and easier than magnets and
: you still get the clean deck look.
: You can put hatches in and leave the bulkheads out, just use float bags. The
: hatches make cleaning the inside easier, and if you haven't done the
: interior tape yet that is much easier too.
: The hard part is taking the saw to the deck!!!!
