Deck lines

Dan,
Thanks for the follow up to my deck lines question and thanks for the pictures. You're right, it is a very clean look. One that I might me able to live with over my heron veneer. If I do decide to attach bungies post varnishing, can you seal the bungie chord by applying epoxy over varnish, or does the varnish have to be removed for the epoxy to stick? I could epoxy underneath the deck because there is no varnish there and maybe top seal with silicone around the cording.

I may opt for a camel back water bag stored behind the seat with a tube going thru the deck or spray skirt tunnel in lieu of a water bottle on the deck. So I may not need it for that purpose.

Anyone else out there with strong feelings about an absolute necessity for day touring deck lines?
