Good day all,
I’ve just joined the halves and ‘taped’ the inside of my night heron, and I couldn’t get the two halves to meet at every spot along the length, so I’ve opted to ‘dookie’ the gaps from the outside. Of course I can’t get an exact match especially with the changing colors of the cedar, so it will show. I noticed “rubrails” on the CLC site and was wondering if anyone has used or seen these? There isn’t any dimensional information, therefore I’m not sure it will cover my mistakes. Do they add much weight, offer any other advantages/disadvantages? Another option I was thinking about is veneer or something even thinner like a printed tape? I’d like to hear any ideas people have and results if they tried them. My problem stems not from doing an incorrect bevel, but it’s almost like material along the seam is missing an 8th inch in some spots or the two halves aren’t entirely parallel and couldn’t be compressed together. It’s not a big deal, but if an accent strip will cover it, look nice and even have some functionality then I’m all for it. I don’t have any pics of the problem, but use your imagination:)
Thanks,
James
