I just put the first coat of varnish on my cedar strip kayak, and am thinking on my last boat I varnished multiple coats w/o sanding in between. I put successive coats on before it dried completely, giving it a chemical bond, and not having to do the sanding/mechanical bond. Any thoughts on this?
