: Can you find an old wine vat from a vineyard?

I'm already checking into that, so far no luck. It turns out that some of the 'reclaimed lumber' places love old wine vats, but of course they dismantle them and sell the boards. I read somewhere that the california hot tub fad started with old wine vats...the rumor is that redwood was perfect for wine vats, because it was rot resistant, and didn't impart any flavor to the wine.

I'm leaning towards trying western red cedar. At the very worst, if it doesn't work, I could purchase a liner kit that is sold for wooden hot tubs that the wood is starting to break down in.
