I also live in central texas. I haven't seen or even tried to find cypress lately. I use to use it for bee hives. I've been building from what I can find at Home Depot and Lowe's. For redwood I found a place in Waco...which is 35 miles away. Central Texas is not a mecca for good boat building material. Shipping charges are a killer. Cypress should work pretty good for a boat, but when encapsulated in epoxy almost any wood will work. If you happen to find a source for cypress please post the location.
