Skin-on-Frame: What to cover old Kayak with??

Greetings,
I have 2 old skin-on-frame kayaks made in the 50s. I would like to recover them as there are a few holes (duck tape worked for 12 yrs).
They have painted canvas on wood frames.
What would be reccomended to reskin them?
Source of material?
