: OK, I give up. I've been staring at this for some time and can't figure out
: how to tackle the next step. I've stripped the bottom of the hull, and
: have done almost all of the deck (of a Night Heron). I'm now anticipating
: closing the gap between the two and I can't imagine getting the rolling
: bevel right on the closing strips. Do you work down to the seam from the
: top or up from the last strip on the bottom? Do you mate them "close
: enough" and then plane edges to mate after separating halves of the
: boat? I could really use some advice here. Thanks so much!

Hi Lou-

After stripping the hull, I stripped the deck from the sheer up, so the first thing I had to mess with on the deck strips was that rolling bevel. I didn't put the center strips on the deck until I had stripped past the gunwale (I think that's the right term - the corner between the side and the deck). In the end, the rolling bevel wasn't perfect, and there are places where a 1/16" strip of light shines through the epoxy (if your head is inside the boat), but it's not noticable from the outside. As long as it's filled with epoxy (when you do the interior seam) I don't think it'll be a problem. I don't know how far you are on the top of the deck, but I'd get the strips on the sheer as soon as possible.
