Steve,

I put a small skeg on my Guillemot. Actually just a ¾ inch strip with the cove side glued to the bottom. I think it’s about 2 feet long. It seemed to help but now after I have paddled the boat for a few months I don’t have as much difficulty keeping it straight and may take it off. I have to add that I’m new to paddling and building. If I were to do it again I would have paddled more and worked on my stroke before I installed the skeg. I keep playing with the idea of a retractable skeg. I think that would be the way to go.
