Glad you got the pics. When you consider the 40-50 pounds is spread over as many wedges, the stress in any one area is minimal. Just start at each end and work your way to the centre, where the greatest deformation will be, and by the time you get there the problem should have disappeared. Good luck and let us know how it goes. BTW I used the regular white glue sticks rather than the yellow wood glue and they held up just fine and came off afterward with just a small whack.
