Charlie, what other s&g have you built? You could make an Arctic Tern with 4oz glass and 4mm okoume and it'll weigh about the same was your Yare and be a LOT stronger with a LOT more room. The thing that surprised me about BS1088 is that although it is very nice it's not necessary for decent s&g that is built without bent sheer clamps, CLC constructions for example, as there is less bending in the hull panels and very little in the deck panels. It's still possible to end up with BS1088 with 1mm x 16" voids in that will manifest themselves in the tortured constructions. I can't see why someone would buy fancy plywood only to risk tearing it apart in the construction. There's something fundamentally wrong with the concept.
