: I have the two halfs of my guillemot together and the whole outside sanded.
: My question is when I apply the fill coat in two stages how do I keep the
: resin from dripping down the sides while it dries? Is this a dumb
: question? Am I going to have drip lines on the sides no matter what?
I didn't do the fill coats until after I had taped the exterior seams. Rehd's advice is good - you want thin coats. I had to thin my epoxy (MAS) with 5% Lacquer Thinner and I kept a rag with thinner on it to wipe drips as soon as they occured. I followed the same pattern as with the subsequent varnish: apply filler with a brush for a foot from one side of the center line down to the sheer, repeat on the opposite side, etc. Each time before I changed sides I wiped under where I had just applied filler to create a clean line between the wet epoxy above and the dry glass below. Instead of doing multiple coats in a row I took (a lot) more time and did the hull then the deck then the hull, etc., feathering the line and overlapping the coats.
Good luck.
