I can't imagine using that technique on a big area. Sounds terribly risky.

I've only glassed twice now (football and then entire hull over top) and I didn't squeegee very hard. I was more concerned about float than excess weight, but I also worried about starving. Bottom line is that next time I'll probably be more aggressive with squeegeeing. It's definitely a learning process.
