Last Christmas I had so many toys to cart away on holiday that I had to take the kayaks. I mostly filled them up with bulky, light weight stuff and that made much more room in the car.
Every time a car drove past the other way with one of those aerodynamic cartop carriers (which probably cost a mint), I smiled, knowing that not only were my kayaks even more aerodynamic, I could go and use them on any number of adventures - more than what those guys could do.
I am taking my kayaks away this school holidays and hope to bringin back a couple of planks of re-cycled Kauri to cut up into little strips for my strip plank kayak project. It seems appropriate to bring them home inside a kayak and the best way I can think of to keep long planks dry for the journey. Oh... and I get to go on some kayak adventures too.
So in my book, loading up kayaks is fair game. I tie the bow and stern ends down to their respective bumpers, so if the kayaks ever become potential missiles that will be the least of my problems
Cheers Pete
