Just for fun, isn't there a series of formulas in the wood industry that basically says if the tree is "n" inches in diameter, than that species would generally average "n" feet in height. Further, with known diameters and estimated heights, there is a formula that will tell you about how many board feet of lumber you can harvest from it. And, if you know that, and how many board feet of lumber it takes to build an average sized boat, then voila, you can estimate how many boats can be built from that tree. Hmmmm, it might be fun to track that down....

Oh, geez, my daughter is right, I am a geek! I think I'm beginning to understand why my 12 year old thinks so, anyway! It all started when she caught me reading her school text books... FOR FUN!!!! :-)
